Store Workers:
Working in the store means you are following the guide line sheet to give the correct amount of food to each family. You NEVER work alone and always have a partner. You will also bag the food to give to the clients. You will work from 11:30 am until 2:00pm. You should be prepared to be on your feet for the entire time.
Store Computer Worker:
Working the store computer means you are the first person the client will meet when they walk in. You will be trained in how to use our system. You will have to verify each client is who they say they are and verify the clients information is up-to date.
Store Stockers:
Everyday after 4:00pm, the store has to be stocked for the next day. Cans, boxed foods, meat, personal items, and other foods need replaced in the store from the back. Stocking starts at 4:00pm and can last till 8:00pm, however, it really depends on how busy the day was. Some days, stocking can be over at 5:00pm.
Pantry Pick-up/Sorting Volunteers:
In order to stock the store, there must be enough food in the back of the pantry. Every Monday & Thursday, our box truck picks up donated food from local the Aldi, Kroger's, Meijer, GFS, City Barbecue, Giant Eagle, Big Lots and Target. As you may predict, this is a large amount of work. The day starts at 9:00am and ends around 11:00am. But, the work is rewarding and families in need will be fed.
Also, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, we pick up from certain stores. Either a single person or a team of a few people will be responsible for picking up the food in their vehicle and weighing the food. This is a constant need.
Driving the truck requires a CDL License.
